IRB Meeting Times and Submission Deadlines
|
Meetings are held in the Faculty Senate Conference Room in the
Administration Building
(AD-179 or AD-128) from 1:30pm – 3:30pm
Please leave your IRB application in the drop box if I am not in the office.
If
your application is being reviewed at one of the below schedules
meetings the IRB invites and welcomes your attendance.
Those who would like to attend IRB meetings to view the IRB process
are also invited to attend. We would request that you please
notify the IRB Coordinator at 909-537-7588 or
mgillesp@csusb.edu to provide seating arrangements. Please
note the new IRB meeting schedule is not posted until September of
each year.
Exempt and Expedited Applications can be submitted anytime, full
board review application submissions must abide by the schedule
listed below.

Note: Submission deadlines have changed as
of January 1, 2007 to provide the Institutional Review Board
a full two week period to review IRB full board application protocols.

IRB ESTIMATED REVIEW TIME - Please note that the CSUSB IRB has
and exceptional protocol review record. Many national IRB's only
meet once a month, once a quarter, or once every 6 months where the
CSUSB meets twice a months during the academic year, except during
the summer. Applications for exempt, expedited, and full board can
be submitted anytime during the summer. The summer review is based
off of the availability of IRB members during the summer break where
the CSUSB IRB maintains the commitment to our faculty, staff, and
students for a timely review. Please note that by federal law under
the Office of Human Research Protections the IRB Committee must
convene a meeting and have a quorum available and present to review
your protocol. If the quorum is not available your application
will be reviewed at the first scheduled fall IRB meeting of the
new academic year. EXEMPT REVIEW
3 - 8 Business Days
EXPEDITED REVIEW
5 - 8 Business Days
FULL BOARD REVIEW 7 - 14
Business Days
Please note that Exempt and Expedited Review follow their own review
criteria that are (3– 8) business days for Exempt Review and
(5 – 8) business days for Expedited Review. Exempt and
Expedited application can be submitted at anytime because they are
reviewed within the office under administrative review by the IRB
Chair and the IRB Coordinator. Additional IRB Members may be called
upon to review these protocols if the protocol is within the IRB
Members expertise and training.
Full Board Review
is (7 – 14) business days and must be submitted by the dates
listed above in order to give the full board committee the time it
needs to efficiently and effectively review the proposed protocols.
Full Board reviews during the summer are based off of the
availability of IRB Committee Members during the summer break as
noted above. The federal regulations require a full board convened
meeting in order to review your protocol. If the full board is
unavailable during the summer your application will be reviewed at
the first scheduled fall meeting of the new academic year. |
